Junior Duke
Trotts Hill in the Stevenage Comet for Junior Duke
Junior Duke Awards
We are now in our third year of participating in the Junior Duke Awards. Pupils can sign up in September of each academic year.
The award is a similar style to the Duke of Edinburgh award system available to Secondary school aged children, and involves completing 7-14 challenges throughout the academic year. These challenges are all easy to complete at home and include:
- Baking / cooking
- First Aid
- Exercise
- Budgeting
- Domestic chores e.g. washing, cleaning
- Mending / repairing
- Computer skills
- Crafting e.g. sewing / knitting
This year (2025-2026), there are additional challenges which look at the traditions, foods and cultures within the country as well as its geography and how children can help by living more sustainably.
The challenges aim to increase your child’s independence, resilience and confidence through learning important life skills.
