If your child has a doctor, dentist, optician or hospital appointment, please collect and return children to school before and after the appointment. You will need to collect and return your child from the office, and sign the signing in/out book.
Attendance and Holidays in Term Times
Children who are registered at a school must, by law, attend school every day. Attendance is monitored closely and we ask parents to avoid booking holidays or other family events during term time. Please make sure that your family and friends know the term dates for Trotts Hill Primary School.
If your child is unwell, please contact the school office to inform us of your child’s absence.
In the event of school closure due to adverse weather, you will be contacted via our schoolcomms text messaging service. In addition we will also notify parents via our Website, Facebook page and local radio station BOB FM. The Hertfordshire County County notification system ‘Everbridge’ will also detail any closure of schools across the county.
Children attend assembly on a daily basis. Friday is a whole school sharing assembly where children have the opportunity to share their work and we celebrate achievements as a whole school. Parents and carers are invited to send in examples of achievements from home including trophies and certificates from after school clubs.
Parents are also invited to attend our Christmas performances, Spring and Summer class assemblies and Year 6 parents to watch their child/ren perform in the Summer Production.
Parent consultations are held in the Autumn and Spring Term. In July, we offer an open evening for parents and children to meet their new teachers. Each term, parents are invited to a Book Sharing session where children show parents what they have been learning in class. At the end of the school year, parents are provided with a written report about their child’s progress.
Contact with Class Teachers
Class teachers are available to talk to parents about their child or any concerns they may have at the beginning, or preferably, at the end of the day. For parents that work, please contact the school office to arrange a convenient date and time to speak to the teacher.
Contact with Head Teacher
If you would like to speak to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher please contact the school office to arrange an appointment. The Headteacher and Deputy will always endeavour to make themselves available at the beginning and end of the school day. They are also happy to speak with parents over the phone.
Support for Parents
“Support for families is crucial for achieving the best outcomes for children. Parents and Carers are not the only influence on a child’s changes, but effective parenting is one of the strongest protective factors for any child” (Hertfordshire County Council).
Hertfordshire Parenting Support offers a directory of parenting courses available county wide.
